Condemnation of Violence
IBIA expressed its deep sorrow for those affected and extended condolences to the families and colleagues of victims. Alexander Prokopakis, Executive Director of IBIA, highlighted the significant risks seafarers face, stating that they are often treated as collateral in conflicts where they have no involvement.
Prokopakis further stated, “The men and women serving at sea are not engaged in these disputes. They are responsible for the delivery of energy, food, and vital goods, which are essential for the functioning of economies and societies worldwide. These individuals deserve safety, respect, and the right to perform their duties without becoming victims of violence.”
